Summer is Past

A poem by Scott E. Sutton

Art-A-Fair is over
Summer is done
And the Beebees and I
Want to thank everyone
For stopping by
To say, "Well hello!"
And "You're still alive,
Cool, way to go!"
If you need books,
But can't find me,
Go to scottesutton.com
That's where they'll be!

Attack of the Giant Cheese
A Cautionary Halloween Tale by Scott E Sutton

It happened in northern Spain, I’m told
In a quaint little village that was very old.

It seems that a farmer made a mistake
By dumping his old milk into a lake.

He used the lake as his dumping ground
So he didn’t have to keep old milk around.

At first it was fine, no problem at all.
He’d just dump the old milk over the wall.

And into the lake it would slide like a blob,
Then sink to the bottom where it sat in a glob.

As the years went by – the blob, it grew
More than even the farmer knew.

One cold night when a storm was blowing,
Lightning struck the milk blob and it started glowing!

Then from out of the depths of the lake
Came a monster that was the farmer’s mistake.

There on the shore, as tall as the trees,
Stood a hideous monster – a giant cheese!

“Caramba!” said the farmer. “This cannot be!
This monster, it lives because of ME!”

It looked very angry, a horrible beast.
It marched through the village and into the east.

Now, I wasn’t there – and I tell you, I’m glad.
They say that the monster smelled very bad.

Now the cheese monster (from what I did learn)
Was stomping around Europe and made a wrong turn.

Where did he stomp? Where did he prance?
He made the mistake of going to France.

It’s a well-known fact – French people like cheese
With bread and wine, with chicken and peas,

With crackers and sweets, and frog legs, too.
They even eat cheese that is moldy and blue.

The day the cheese came was the best day ever.
When the cheese attacked France, the French got clever.

The French brought crackers and knives by the ton.
They attacked the cheese monster and finally won.

“We had so much cheese from the monster,” they say,
“That we French still serve him in restaurants today.”

The moral to the story is – go where you please,
But don’t go to France if you’re a giant cheese!
